Thyme (Thymus) is a genus of plants belonging to the family of orphans. Summary name of about 350 evergreen, ground-shrub or vaulted shrubs, semi-shrubs, or woody-stemmed, spicy-smelling perennial species, hybrid species. They are native to the temperate zones of Europe, Asia, and North Africa. Its popular names are balsam, demutka, thyme, garden thyme, field thyme, thyme, incense, concentrated grass or wild clover.
Already used by the Egyptians and the Greeks, it is now a common spice. French and Bulgarians especially like it.
